Project Description

Monotypes and More with Kathy Metaxas

Monotype and collagraph printmaking produce one-of-a-kind expressive images.  Artists and dabblers in all media are invited to experience the creative discoveries that can be produced by these two intriguing printmaking techniques.  In the first two sessions students will create a collagraph printing plate with rich with textures and shapes.  The following two sessions will focus on printmaking from the collagraph plate individually, then using it in interchangeably with monotype printmaking.

Students will become familiar with the various ways to create successful compositions using Akua Kolor Intaglio inks, alternative marking tools, brayers, paper, and an etching press. All levels of artists are welcome, from experienced printmakers to true beginners.  Returning students are welcome to further investigate or complete work begun in previous sessions.
