Design and “build” your own house. Choose your favorite fabric, colors, and embellishments to make this fun wall hanging (approx. 25 x 30 inches). Start collecting your favorite embellishments – buttons, beads, old jewelry, and other memories – to use in your work. We will also have some fabric and decorative elements on hand.

Familarity with using a sewing machine is necessary.

Materials to bring:

Sewing machine (Let us know if you cannot bring one. There are two available at the Museum.)

Basic sewing tools

Peltex sew-in (Pellon 70W) 30×30 inches (Also available to purchase from the Instructor.)

Artist Biography:

Janneke is my name – a very Dutch name because I was born in the Netherlands. I was a typical Dutch craftsy child who always wanted to become a teacher. I took up quilting once we moved to the USA. Having learned all the basics from the traditional Pennsylvania and Lancaster quilters, I try to combine their craftsmanship with my Dutch whimsical craft sense. I continue to teach children and adults to quilt and express themselves through the textile arts. I continue to learn and share new techniques and ways of making joyful pieces of fabric art.
