780 Building Your Own Iconography: How to Consider and Construct Decoration with Bennett Bean

Offered as part of the Peters Valley Craft Center / Hunterdon Art Museum Partnership: Explorations in Fine Craft. The emphasis of this ceramics workshop will be on transforming and expanding personal imagery by borrowing, stealing and generally expropriating from yourself and other disciplines. These themes will be explored through lecture, demonstration, discussion and hands-on experience. Techniques that will be taught in the workshop include: stencil and tape resist, pit-firing, post-fire decoration such as painting, and the use of repair techniques as decorative motif. There will also be a gilding demonstration. You will be introduced to computer cut stencil technology.
