Discover Wet Felting with Linda Brooks Hirschman

Discover how to wet felt! Wet felting is low-tech, non-toxic, and requires little equipment or space. Plus, it’s really fun!

Under the guidance of Linda Brooks Hirschman, whose work was featured in the winter 2020 Explorations in Felt exhibition at the Hunterdon Art Museum, you will learn the basics of wet felting. Linda will explain why and how wool felts with only fleece, soap and water. Following demonstrations, students will experiment with mixing different colors of fiber and learn how to make various thicknesses of felt.  Linda will also explain how to design and embellish the felt surface and help you create a one-of-a-kind piece.

After you learn Linda’s tried-and-true methods you can create beautiful felt yardage for pillows, blankets, vests, and more.  All materials are provided. Please note that wet felting can be a vigorous undertaking, so please wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in.
