Prints at Play: The Monotype with Stephen McKenzie
The monotype is a hybrid: part print, part painting, and requires no learned technical expertise. The process begins with a blank plate and using a variety of mark-making materials and tools an image is created. There are 2 primary methods of creating monotypes; the additive and the subtractive process. Between these two techniques lies a multiplicity of possibilities- join us for the experience! Akua ink will be used. The ink is water and soy based and has great pigmentation as well as being easy to clean up. Students should be able to create a number of prints during each session with the general MO being to play. No need to worry if you feel you can’t draw as this is all mark-making.
