The Every Day Through Clay with Emma Rimi

Explore the possibilities of visual narration in this three-week handbuilding and glazing course that combines the thoughts, experiences, and ideas captured in your journal or sketchbook with the corporeal medium of stoneware. Students will create various forms, ranging from fun to functional to sculptural, using slab, pinch and coil methods. Methods of decorating and glazing will be covered, including the techniques of sgraffito and Mishima surface design. Artwork will be fired in collaboration with the Rimi Studios in Washington, N.J. Bring a sketchbook and a pencil; all other materials are provided.
