Project Description

Women in Art: an Exploration of Mia Brownell with Zena Tredinnick-Kirby

Through a combination of lecture, discussion and artmaking participants will explore the artwork of Mia Brownell, featured in the fall 2019 Hunterdon Art Museum exhibition, Skeptical Realism. With a particular focus on how Brownell’s experience as a woman and woman artist has influenced her work, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Brownell’s artwork, influences, and inspiration. Students will leave with a painting of their own inspired by the stylistic still-life paintings of Brownell. Registration for only lecture portion, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., if optional. All materials are provided and advance registration is required.
